The Royal Society of Sculptors champions sculpture and the artists who create it. As a Member, you will join our professional network of sculptors from around the world. We support and inspire our members at all stages of their career.
Our membership gives you access to expert knowledge, advice and opportunities, expands your network and keeps you to up to date. It also gives you recognition: Members and Fellows can use professional accreditation after their name, MRSS and FRSS accordingly.
The sculptor members of our Board review all applications and select new Members by majority vote. There are two rounds of applications each year, in March and September.
The Society welcomes applications from professional artists who work in three dimensions as a significant part of a coherent professional practice.
Successful applicants will demonstrate a high level of expertise, experience and contemporary understanding. Applicant’s work should be high quality, distinctive and adds to the language of sculpture; whilst also demonstrating the skilled realisation of ideas. We are unable to provide individual feedback on membership applications.
Prospective Members should demonstrate evidence of making sculpture in any of its forms as a significant part of a coherent professional practice. They will be selected for membership based on the quality of the application and provide evidence of:
1. Distinctive and high quality work which adds to the language of sculpture
2. A critically engaged practice with contemporary understanding
3. Accomplished use of materials, techniques and processes .
Membership applications are reviewed twice per year, March and September and selection is by majority vote by the sculptor members of the Society’s Board.Unfortunately we are unable to provide individual feedback on membership applications.
Closing date for March 2020 submissions: 5pm, Monday 10 February 2020.
You will be notified via email of the outcome of your application by 13 March 2020.
Established, national or international, professional artists who make sculpture in any of its forms as a significant part of a coherent professional practice, whose work adds to the language of sculpture and who can demonstrate a high level of expertise, experience, and contemporary understanding.
All applicants will be required to complete an online application. This comprises of:
A CV (no more than two pages) in pdf format
Artist statement (250 words max)
Up to 10 images (1MB or less and that it is a JPEG, TIFF or PNG file format)
A link to your website
The membership application fee is £43.00.
